Problem with Feedback/Echo

Hi, everybody!

Im experiencing the following problem: In a Solo-Session: The rec-monitor shows a constant minimum amplitude. But i can't hear anything but silence. Playing my instrument and mic work fine. In a session with others, the GUI shows the same symptoms as described above and the others in the session get an echo of what they are playing but not of what i am playing. What hits my headphones is absolutely fine.

This inimimu amplitude on the rec-monitor differs on what of my two soundcards I use and what channel-selections I do.

On my ASUS Laptop, running Windows Vista, have been using 1. a CM106 based sound device, USB connected TRUST SC-5500p (www.trust.com) and 2. the internal device of my laptop, which is a Realtek HDA. Im using the latest version of ASIO4ALL since these devices dont have an own ASIO-driver. ...

... No matter what configurations i choose, not even turning the very last slider down to zero in vista and eJamming, that minimum amplitude wont disappear. Even with no equippent hooked to the sound card and the Latop running on battery, didnt help.

Maybe anyone at eJamming can tell me anything about it.

To all others: Who made similar experience or maybe experienced an echo during a session although everyone had acknowleded that their live silders were all the way down.

Thanks in advance for any leads.

Hey eizn,

It sounds like your input into the sound card is feeding their audio back. Are you using a mixer or anything LIKE a mixer?

the other possibility is that one of your sound cards is routing audio BACK into eJamming from the output of eJamming, this happens sometimes when the internal mixer of windows or some other program gets things wrong. i would look in the internal mixer and see if something if not going where it should be.

Good luck, let us know if this helps!

Hi, Chris!

Tahynks for the immediate reply!

I would like to eliminate possibility 1, since there is nor mixer of any kind. Im hooking up eDrum to line-in, mic to mic-in and headphones to output.

Hint 2 might be more promising, although as I stated above, even when all sliders are down i got this effect. Can u give me a briefing on where to look and waht to look for in Vista's sound configuration.

I tried a lot and really dont know where to start again!

Thanks

Rene

Hey Rene

Whats eDrum? did you mean eJam or your electronic drums?

in Vista, i would have to do some checking, but usually theres a little speaker icon in the lower right taskbar pane thingy.

or you can go to the control panel and open up the audio properties mixer. I'm not 100% sure where to find that in Vista, but in XP its in the control panel.

Check there, also. make sure that the eDrum brain isnt doing any mixing that you don't know of.

Talk to you soon!

Um-Num!?

Yes its a Roland TD-6 electronic drum kit!

Yeah I know where all the stuff is.

Again, even when every thing is plugged out and the laptop on battery, i get the amplitude, so no feed back from electricity network or drum kit/module possible!

Im really desperate, I am a computer scientist and programmer, have worked as system administrator. So, basically I know what I am doing and where to look for things! (.. or, well, maybe, I suck in what Im doing as a profession!?)

What should I look for in the sound configuration? Do u know any monitoring programm to analyze things like this?

look for the output of the sound card feeding back into the input somehow.

what do YOU hear? can you hear your own sound echoing?

What I hear is abolutely fine, when my live Slider is down!

I just see a small REC-amplitude and others in the session her an echo of themselves!

My theres a chance, that I can show u this in a session sometime!
