I jam w/ a friend from L.A. and every time we jam the sound is about acouple hundredths of a second off of real time. What is the problem. We both have a cable internet connection and we just cant get it to play in real time. How can we fix this?

Hey Hoverdave, The only way to sync people in real time is to delay the initial sound of your instrument a bit. Wed much prefer not to do this, but unfortunately, even at the speed of light, it takes the electrical signals in the wires that are the internet about 10mS to travel a distance of 1000 Miles. Its those same pesky laws of physics that have, thus far, kept me from having a flying car.

Regardless, you will always here SOME delay. The trick is to reduce it until its not a problem. Can you give me a little more information about what happened? How far away from your friend were you? What is your upload and download speeds? What was your Sync Delay value? and what sound card were you using? i can get about 42 mS between Orlando and New York, which is well over 1000 miles.

Please give us a little more info if you could and we'll try to help reduce your delay to a manageable level.

Thanks and happy eJamming! Good Luck!

Chris
